Lesson 6: Discover Your Superpowers

Time: 60 minutes

Materials: Lesson 6 video; The Daily Doodle notebook and pen or pencil.

Overview: Students develop their characters’ superpowers by discovering their real-life talents and strengths.

As their characters take action, they’ll make a list of the things they’re good at to help tackle their problems. Then they think about a tough situation in their lives, considering what made the situation tough and what personal strengths they used use to make the situation better.

In The Universe Within, students use their strengths to design their characters’ superpowers. They’re reminded that their strengths are the parts of them that come naturally. Students select three powers that their characters will use to help overcome the social and environmental problems in their worlds. They share with the group one of their characters’ superpowers and describe how they will use it.
