Spark Your Creative Genius

Time: 60 minutes

Materials: Lesson 2 video; Computer and The Daily Doodle digital notebooks.

Overview: Students explore the creative genius inside!

Students are asked who they think of when they hear the word “genius.” They learn that almost every one of us is born a creative genius. However, in order to keep the inner creative genius alive, they’ve got to keep using their imaginations every day. Students review investigative techniques that will open their minds to new ideas and information, like forming great questions and conducting research. They’re told that with  a great question and a little research, they’ll learn all kinds of things about their characters’ problem and how to solve it

In The Universe Within, students use investigative techniques to open their minds to new ideas and information. They start the journey of solving their problems by asking a few questions. What causes the problem? Why does it need a solution? Who benefits from the solution?

They learn that in order to fix a problem, they’ve got to know what’s broken, first. Students gather facts about their problems and cite their sources. They organize what they’ve learned about their problems by its causes and negative effects.

They get ready to meet the creative genius inside of them.
