Lesson 10: Build Your Base
Time: 60 minutes
Materials: Lesson 10 video; The Daily Doodle notebook.
Overview: Students build a base structure for their characters’ headdresses.
Expanding on the headband, their cardboard bases will help them add more dimensions to their headdresses. The base structure and the parts students add will determine how the headdress functions.
They learn that different shapes have special characteristics that have stood the test of time.
Using the headband that they made, students build a strong structure made from strips of cardboard. They add more shapes to the base to test the strength of the shapes, recording what they discovered about their strengths and characteristics.
They draw their headdress bases reflecting on what type of base they built, what types shapes they added and how they attached them.
